The Place to B in Fort Lauderdale

By: Lucie Hys

B Ocean Fort Lauderdale is more than just a hotel. It is a true eye candy; a piece of art with unique, ultra modern décor and its own character. From the moment you step into the lobby, you will instantly feel the chic and sexy vibe – better yet, it’s quite contagious! You may feel younger, cooler, and refreshed just by entering that front door, no kidding!

Love for innovation and detail is felt throughout the whole property. The lights change colors, creating intimate and trendy atmosphere in the lobby. The contemporary couches are so inviting that I dreamt about having my piña colada at this very spot during my whole stay. I encourage you to grab yours at the poolside Quench bar, take it to your room, and just stare out of your window while you are sipping on it.  All rooms have the ocean view – and quite an ocean view that is (no straining necks to see)! Thanks to floor to ceiling windows, you will see a whole lot more than in most oceanfront hotels (true paradise for fans of people watching and dolphin spotting).

The view from the room is definitely the biggest highlight for me, but there is a lot more to admire here. If you are into contemporary design, you can definitely find a lot of inspiration at B Ocean. I must admit I fancied the touch arch lamp on the desk so much that I had to google where to purchase it once I got back home. If you have not been persuaded about white furniture, you will change your mind once you stay here. The white leather bed adds a lot to the modern feel and it is super comfy too.

Fort Lauderdale is a fun city with lots to do at night. Go out and enjoy! Heading out? Head to Las Olas for some of the best restaurants & nightlife. journeyPod recommends O’Hara’s Pub and Mango’s.  Hollywood, FL is also a great late night action hotspot! Check out Harrison Street and pop into  Sushi Blues. If you prefer to eat on-site, check out Asian fusion restaurant Saia. Try the Tamari Scallops and Bipolar Cocktail (made with Absinth, so go easy).

Given that the B Ocean opened just about 4 months ago, it is literally a baby on Fort Lauderdale market. However, because of its uniqueness it quickly became a favorite spot for many travelers, including some famous faces (Dwight Freeney, Drew Stanton, and Drew Henson to name a few). Speaking of celebrities, B’stro on the Beach is proud to boast their Executive Chef is Holli Ugalde, Season 7 winner of Fox TV show’s Hell’s Kitchen! Don’t worry, no one’s throwing you out of the kitchen here!

You will most definitely remember your stay here – for me it is the breathtaking ocean view and super trendy design that did the trick. Okay, I admit, free iPad rental left an impression too! Piña colada wasn’t bad either. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were super clean. Are you on your way yet?
