Golfers’ Paradise & Orlando’s Hidden Gem: Villas of Grand Cypress

By: Lucie Hys

I will start by saying that this resort is every golfer’s dream… even if you have never played golf in your life, you will enjoy your stay here guaranteed.

Now whether you are a golfer or not, you will definitely notice the fact that it is a golf resort. When you wake up, the first thing you see is the golf course outside your window! You can have breakfast on the terrace, which is located right on the golf course, and watch others play since the early morning (well that is unless you’re the one playing there already)! You can walk, jog or enjoy a bike ride on a trail along the vast golf course, practice your skills at a 9-hole Pitch ‘n’ Putt course or take a lesson at the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf, which happens to be one of GOLF Magazine’s “Top 25 Golf Schools in America”. Time for the grand finale: enjoying 45 holes of Jack Nicklaus signature-designed golf course.

This beautiful golf course consists of 27-hole North, South, and East Courses that are aimed at testing the accuracy and 18-hole New Course that provides the Scottish links masterpiece.

Another good reason to stay right at the resort if you’re a golfer — the golf course is open only to limited public play!

I strongly recommends dining at the fabulous Nine 18 restaurant which overlooks the North-South Course.

Now you may be thinking why would you stay here if you are not a golfer? I personally am not a golfer either – in fact, the first time I have tried golf was at the resort! Staying at the Villas gives you an access to a great number of other activities that are hard to find at other accommodations. You can find gym, tennis, racquetball, basketball courts, pools and Jacuzzis elsewhere (here too by the way), but try to find a resort that gives you a FREE access to the man-made beach with hammocks, water vessels (kayaks, water bicycles, sailboat & more), bicycles, rock climbing wall, fishing or Pitch ‘n’ Putt. There is so much to do here that it is impossible for anyone to be bored.

If you don’t feel like doing anything and just want to relax, you can just take a book and sit on your terrace which is incredibly peaceful or lay in one of the hammocks on the beach. The pool and Jacuzzi are always sure to please, as there is barely anyone there (at least from my experience).

With as quiet and peaceful as this place is, you’d never be able to tell that it is only minutes from the major theme parks (the resort offers free shuttle to World Disney World, Sea World and Universal).

The whole resort has a luxurious touch – from the amenities to the service. Did I mention that in the check-in area you can fix yourself a free drink (or two… or three)? Nice touch!  The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. A good night sleep is a given here, as the high-quality curtains block the light really well and the king-size bed has a heavenly mattress.

Staying at the Villas of Grand Cypress, you will see Orlando from a totally different (nicer) perspective.  Orlando is more than just a crowded, busy place with theme parks being the only source of good entertainment. Orlando has so much more to offer and can actually be a quiet and peaceful getaway if you choose your resort right.
