Dance Music’s Best and Brightest Shine at Miami’s Winter Music Conference

By: Kim Michele

As one of the world’s largest dance music events, Winter Music Conference drew thousands of industry executives, partiers and celebrity DJs to Miami Beach for 5 days of non-stop partying. Hotels were packed with beautiful people from all over the world as some of the best music pulsated from the clubs, beaches and poolside soirees.

Marathon parties and non-stop revelry fueled the celebration and, as usual journeyPod was there to take you to the hottest parties, the sexiest celebrations and a behind the scenes look at the who, what and where of Winter Music Conference 2009.

Highlights included: Penthouse Suite at the Raleigh Hotel at Armani Exchange Music Lounge where superstars of the dance music industry tried on sexy A|X sunglasses, socialized and offered tips and advice to the lucky few who got thru the door. Paul van Dyk, one of the biggest DJs on the planet, actually stepped away from the turntables to interview several of his peers including Deadmau5, and Bob Sinclar. The interplay between these incredible DJs was unforgettable especially in this intimate setting. Roger Sanchez at Mansion took the party to a new high, while Loco Dice vs. Luciano was considered to be one of the best parties at conference. Grooving off of Latin house music poolside at the Shelbourne Hotel, it was definitely a highlight.

You can’t attend WMC without mentioning the Ultra Music Fest which is the icing on the dance music cake – highlights include a set with Fergie reuniting with the Black Eyed Peas who later joined her and her hubby Josh Duhamel in the VIP at LIV at the Fontainebleau for a birthday celebration. Meanwhile, superstar DJ Dave Guetta graced the stage with the beautiful and talented Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child to perform a soon to be released track “When Love Takes Over”. Carl Cox performed a flawless set while thousands jived to his music.

WMC is all about music – if you’re a fan of any type of house music: dance – trance -drum and bass – dirty beats – tribal rhythms – deep house, scratching, spinning, and a myriad of other rhythmic reasons to move your body, then you are definitely in the right place.
