Best Honeymoon Suites and Villas

A honeymoon only happens once…hopefully!  So you better make it super duper special.  We’ll give you some ideas on honeymoon destinations and honeymoon hotels & resorts in an upcoming feature article.  But this time we are just covering the best honeymoon suites and villas where you can enjoy the same hotspots as the celebrities during your honeymoon getaway.  Most of us cannot afford to stay in these places for our entire honeymoon, but you might want to splurge for one or two nights during your romantic journey.  Read on for honeymoon planning tips and suggestions for the perfect honeymoon trip.

Jean Michel-Cousteau in Savasavu, Fiji

Cousteau, as the locals call it, is amazing in every way.  A romantic paradise with a pristine beach, this ultra resort is 6 star all the way.  Their villa won Best Villa in Fiji and we can certainly agree with those judges.  His and her indoor and outdoor showers are a nice touch.  So is the hot tub and waterfall just off of the master bedroom.  The villa has its own plunge pool and comfy daybed overlooking the beach.  Reserve their private island for that Survivor Fiji Castaway Tom Hanks kinda of feel.  But don’t worry.  It comes with a walkie-talkie so they can pick you up whenever you like.  And it is Cousteau, so they also leave you with a cooler full of beer and a special picnic lunch for the honeymooners.  Listen to our behind the scenes podcast review of Cousteau.

 

 

 

 

 

AVLI Lounge Apartments in Crete, Greece

Whimsical and spacious, AVLI Lounge Apartments are a hidden oasis off a cobblestone street in Rethymnon, Crete. Maroma in Riviera Maya, Mexico

Maroma is magical.  Yes the A listers like Prime Minister Tony Blair, Tom Cruise and Michael J. Fox get some R & R down there.  But so can you.  The service is superb and their private beach has won awards from everyone including The Travel Channel for Best Beach in the World.  This Mexican resort is intimate as it puts you in the mood.  We love their Sian Nah Suites right on the beach and their private plunge pools.  Each features your own fitness area, separate living room and outside shower.  You can enjoy Spa treatments from your suite too.  Probably one of the best massages we have ever had!  Maroma also features Master Suites with two balconies- one overlooking the sea and the other to enjoy the pool and rain forest setting.

Namale Resort in Savasavu, Fiji

We head just down the road to another fantabulous ultra resort.  The ratio of staff to guests is about 10 to 1, so everyone calls you by name and is able to meet your every wish with a smile.  We loved their Honeymoon Bure called Nancy which was carved into a rock right on the beach.  It was the hippest tree house we have ever stayed in complete with our own tiki wood bridge that linked our suite to our private balcony deck and plunge pool.  Very romantic and private.  They also have a super villa that features a large pool, multiple decks and daybeds, outdoor showers and plenty of space to throw your own house party for the other guests.

 

 

 

 

 

Astra Suites in Santorini, Greece

With gorgeous views of the Caldera, Astra Suites offers comfortable accommodations in the quaint village of Imerovigli in Santorini. We had to throw in an urban setting for those modern honeymooners and what better place than shining Sydney and its trendy Vibe Hotel.  Maybe it is the mirrors all across the bedroom.  Or the rooftop pool or the sleek designs inside the rooms.  Whatever it is one thing is certain…this place is super sexy!  We loved our Honeymoon Suite with great views and plenty of room to stretch out in the den.  Playful colors all around simply inspire you.  The breakfast buffet will not disappoint.  This hotel is so cool that they even have their own CD series featuring Oasis, Fat Boy Slim and Black Eyed Peas.  Listen to our podcast on this Sydney boutique hotel.

Las Ventanas in Los Cabos, Mexico

This spot is a haven for celebs and not just because it is a short flight down to Baja.  Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, Harrison Ford, Will Smith and Beyonce have all enjoyed the views as the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.  But you can join the party too.  As expected the service is off the charts and the food is divine.  We love the oceanfront rooftop junior suites with breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez.   At almost 1000 u feet these suites are bigger than most people’s first apartment!  The resort features 5 infinity pools so you’ll have plenty of room to take in the sun.  And with almost 360 days of sunshine each year, you really can’t miss.  Click for more on this Mexico honeymoon hotel.

Fairmont Kea Lani Maui in Hawaii

We thought about listing the Vera Wang suite in Hawaii on our list, but at $5000 a night it is a bit pricy.  So we opted for more affordable luxury at a place where all the rooms are luxury suites.  So you can have a solid 1 bedroom suite that is over 800 square feet.  The suites feature marble bathrooms, balconies and separate living rooms for that cozy condo feel.  And this Fairmont has a beautiful beach with tons of water sports from kayaking to cliff jumping.  Or you can take it easy with some drinks by their lagoon pools.   You’ll love this 5 star resort voted in the top 10 by Honeymoon experts TheBigDay.com, Travel & Leisure and TripAdvisor.

Cap Juluca in Anguilla in The Caribbean

Considered by many in the travel industry to be one of the finest resorts in the world.  Cap Juluca is ultimate luxury in a romantic setting with unbelievable service and exquisite cuisine.  Their honeymoon suites have postcard views of the ocean and offer honeymooners plenty of privacy.  Kyra Sedgwick and husband Kevin Bacon (of the famed Kevin Bacon game) have vacationed here among many other stars like Denzel and Liam Neeson.  Everyone loves their pristine beach and afternoon sorbet to cool you off.
